A collection of rare memorabilia, possessions and other artefacts once owned by Kraftwerk's Florian Schneider are currently up for auction.

Organised by Julien’s Auctions, the sale features 450 lots, including an MS Synthi AKS suitcase synth from Kraftwerk’s 'Autobahn' era and the Panasonic Panaracer road bike used by Schneider in the music video for the electronic outfit's single 'Tour de France'.

The auction will be live until November 19, with a spokesperson describing it as a “rare” opportunity to buy memorabilia from Schneider's estate.

“This auction fulfils Florian’s handwritten will for his instruments and personal collection to continue living beyond him,” the spokesperson said. "He always believed that they are meant to be played and shared — not left unused or gathering dust in storage.”

“He wanted his equipment to find their way to people who would truly value them: musicians, collectors, and those inspired by the art of sound,” the statement continues.

Other lots available include an Orsi G Alto Flute, which was used on stage by Schneider - who famously got his start as a flutist - between 1969 and 1974.

It also features a Sennheiser VSM-201 Vocoder, an extremely rare machine used on 'Man Machine' and 'Computer World', as well as a Korg PS-3200 Polyphonic Synthesizer & PS-3010 Keyboard used in Kraftwerk's post-1970 recordings.

“The Florian Schneider Collection is the first auction to feature a comprehensive collection of items from Florian’s personal life and career, providing a tantalizing glimpse at the visionary’s often-enigmatic musical processes,” says Julien's Auctions' VP Head of Music, Giles Moon.

“Julien's is proud to be a part of this groundbreaking sale and to celebrate the legacy of a true pioneer of electronic music,” he adds.
