Fans react to Icelandic artist claiming to be in a relationship with Björk
Yara Polana shared the news via Instagram Story, writing that she “couldn't ask for a better girlfriend”
Fans of Björk have taken to social media following an announcement that musician Yara Polana is in a relationship with the Icelandic artist.
Polana confirmed the relationship via an Instagram story earlier this month, resharing a photo from a fan account post and writing that she “couldn't ask for a better girlfriend”.
The story also had the words “amo-te” (meaning “I love you” in Portugese) written on it.
Yara Polana, also known as Monace, is a musician, producer and software developer from Mozambique based in Iceland.
Several fans online pointed to Björk's long-standing comments on sexual fluidity and connected the announcement to Pride Month.

One X user shared the speculation with the caption: “Musician Yara Polana confirms she's in a relationship with Björk. Happy Pride Month!”. Another wrote, “Björk being a bi queen just makes her even cooler.”
The news prompted references to a 2004 interview Björk gave to DIVA Magazine.

According to The Queerness, in that interview, she said: “I think everyone's bisexual to some degree or another; it's just a question of whether or not you choose to recognise it and embrace it.”
She continues: “Personally, I think choosing between men and women is like choosing between cake and ice cream. You’d be daft not to try both when there are so many different flavours.”
