Potato Head & Max Lamb launch design-forward homeware collection from waste

WASTED by Potato Head has launched Collection 001, a new homeware line created in collaboration with British designer Max Lamb.

Available online from August 4 and in selected stores from August 8, the collection takes discarded materials and transforms them into purposeful objects rooted in craftsmanship and circularity.

WASTED is Potato Head’s in-house design lab dedicated to turning waste into functional, future-minded products.

Rooted in Potato Head’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and its “Good Times, Do Good” ethos, its first collection reflects five years of research into closed-loop, circular production.

Each piece is handmade in Bali using waste sourced exclusively from Indonesia and developed in partnership with local artisans, merging Lamb’s experimental design process with traditional Balinese craft techniques.

This debut series spans eight distinct material families: from marbled chairs cast in recycled HDPE plastics, to mouth-blown glassware from broken bottles, refillable candles made from used cooking oil, hand-woven bamboo furniture, and ceramic pieces reborn from studio offcuts.

Materials also include natural dyes made from compost, reclaimed hotel linens, and composite forms using Styrofoam and oyster shells.

“Designers have a responsibility to justify every product we bring into the world,” says Max Lamb. “With WASTED, we’re not just rethinking materials—we’re celebrating the human hands and knowledge that shape them.”

Collection 001 is designed to be fluid, adapting to the types of waste accessible at any given time. This allows for localised, scalable production models that can be replicated globally through regional partnerships.

Of course, this isn’t Potato Head’s first (or only) move in sustainability.

The series launch builds on Potato Head’s broader environmental work, including its Community Waste Project, which recently opened a 2,000-square-metre facility in Denpasar and aims to reduce landfill waste across Bali’s hospitality sector by 95%.
