Malasimbo Festival returns to the Philippines in a new location to offer an elevated experience
It's the 10th year running for the music and arts festival and conference
Coming to a brand-new location in Quezon City, Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival is back to celebrate its 10th year running. From February 29 to March 1, the open-air event will bring together local and international acts, while helping to revitalize the Philippines’ local music culture and build awareness about the environment.
From 2011-2018, the festival was held in the foothills of Mt. Malasimbo, but changed last year when it moved to a private nature reserve. This year the festival moves to La Mesa Ecopark in Quezon City, where festival-goers will be able to participate in a wider variety of activities, from horseback riding to pool parties, yoga classes, and even bungee jumping.
There will be live performances from a wide range of DJs and live bands, including Mike Love of the Beach Boys fame), Cory Henry and the Funk Apostles, Anomalia, Uncomfortable Science and many more. The main stage will be at the La Mesa Eco Park’s amphitheater, which boasts ideal outdoor acoustics and an ideal sound experience for both performers and attendees.
Other highlights include a silent disco experience in the middle of a rainforest with Up Dharma Down’s Ean Mayor, DJ duo Bignay Soundsystem and others.
Established in 2011, Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival was created from founder Miro Grgic’s passion for music – reflected in past bookings like DJ Danny Krivit, Kristian Hernandez, Manolet Dario, Emel Rowe and others. It also serves as a venue for the indigenous people of Mindoro to showcase their culture and art.
