Pantai People launches out of Bali with "beachside business” on the agenda
The label launches with ‘Echo Beach Edits Vol.1’ by Austin Ato
House and disco releases out of Asia often stay an inch off the radar while tech house and deep tech or ‘playa beats’ get the notification bells ringing. But we don’t think the same will apply for the newly launched sunshine-vibe label born in Bali which has originals and a series of edits lined up for both vinyl and digital releases.
Just as their launch release states, it’s all “palm trees, pina colada’s and crystal-clear seas — Austin Ato comes through with that beachside business for Pantai People.” Translated from Bahasa, Pantai means beach.
Up first under the ‘Echo Beach Edits’ (named after the popular beach in Canggu, Bali) sub-catalogue is a four-track sunny-side-up player from Austin Ato who’s released on the likes of Phonica White, Defected, MeMeMe and Futureboogie. He’s quickly solidified his name as a go to source for dance-floor centric positive and groovy house, easily exemplified by the vocal banger ‘Heat’ that he put out in April earlier this year via Classic Music Company. The debut EP ‘Echo Beach Edits Vol.1’ will be a vinyl only release and handled by Prime Distribution.
We’ve also got the scoop on the second release ‘Echo Beach Edits Vol.2’ which will be helmed by Bali-based British DJ Marc Roberts, a DJ’s DJ who’s been at the epicentre of the global clubbing scene for the last two decades.
