NU-S3RVO unveils debut compilation ‘NU-S3RVO Vol.1’
Featuring 7 producers blending leftfield techno, IDM & bass with Eastern cultural narratives
Marking a bold entry into the electronic music landscape, Beijing-based label NU-S3RVO presents its first compilation, ‘NU-S3RVO Vol.1’.
The release explores the intersection of Eastern cultural elements with contemporary electronic genres such as leftfield techno, IDM, and bass.
By drawing from the cultural and historical narratives of modern East Asia, this release reflects NU-S3RVO’s vision of music as a medium for reinterpreting tradition through a modern lens.
It features contributions from seven producers: Zip, Kousei, Taste of Blue, GUAN, xylon, Ozzy, and Heiyuen, each bringing their unique perspective to the project.

Zip’s multi-instrumental expertise shapes emotive and layered compositions for ‘Ritual’, while Kousei’s intricate basslines and fragmented rhythms deliver high-energy experimentation on ‘Herding The Flock’.
Taste of Blue blends industrial and brokenbeat elements with a bold unpredictability, and GUAN’s work on ‘itch’ showcases his signature “high-tech naturalism,” a fusion of digital innovation and organic soundscapes.

Ozzy’s minimalist yet intricate approach incorporates a dash of dubby grime influences in ‘The Night In Aleng Town’, while xylon’s ‘Wind Gust’ offers a breezy, slightly more uptempo vibe, starting with a catchy beat that evolves with nuanced hi-hats and swirling synths, and Heiyuen creates introspective, ethereal soundscapes for the track ‘朱鹮’—a tribute to the Chinese crested ibis bird species, complete with quirky yet soothing chirps.
NU-S3RVO, co-founded by Heiyuen and Kousei, has established itself as a forward-thinking label and collective, hosting a residency on Hong Kong Community Radio (HKCR) and curating events that connect electronic music with contemporary art.
With ‘NU-S3RVO Vol.1’, they offer a compelling exploration of how tradition and sonic innovation can coexist in dialogue.
