New Indonesian experimental label RAMPAK G drops debut VA
The strong start melds Indonesian rhythms with African GQOM, featuring tracks by founders sujaatse, wazabii & Sanjonas

Indonesia welcomes its newest experimental label, RAMPAK G, with a debut VA featuring tracks from sujaatse, NOISY NOISE, wazabii, and Sanjonas.
RAMPAK G takes its name from Rampak Gendang—a term that loosely translates to “playing in unison” or “simultaneously” in Indonesian.
Rampak means “together” or “synchronised,” while gendang refers to Indonesian traditional drums. The phrase evokes a style of percussive performance where multiple players strike in sync, generating a powerful, unified rhythm.
At its core, RAMPAK G is a genre-fluid label built on experimentation and instinct. Inspired by the energy of Tokyo’s TYO GQOM collective, the label leans into sonic collisions, unpredictable rhythms, and the beauty of trial and error.
This ethos translates into club-ready frameworks woven with Indonesian percussion, traditional instruments, and microtonal elements.

Refusing to be boxed in, RAMPAK G looks to embrace everything from ancestral grooves to chaotic club energy and even the occasional pop-adjacent detour.
The debut release sets a strong precedent, with each contribution channeling the label’s mission of fusing Indonesian rhythmic language with the raw, percussive power of African GQOM.

Speaking on the new imprint, co-founder Sanjonas shared: “At its core, RAMPAK G is about genre-bending and embracing the beauty of trial and error. We’re not here to stick to one lane or box ourselves into a single sound. Genres can be useful, sure—but we don’t want them to become walls.”
