New documentary to explore “final chapter” of David Bowie’s life and work
Channel 4’s The Final Act features interviews with Bowie’s close collaborators
A new Channel 4 documentary is set to explore the “final chapter” of David Bowie’s life, provisionally titled David Bowie: The Final Act.
According to Deadline, the documentary will be a collaboration between Channel 4, distribution company Dogwoof and Rogan Productions, featuring rare interviews with his close collaborators.
The Final Act will also chart Bowie’s last creative years before his death in 2016, highlighting the period in which he released his final record ‘Blackstar’ just days before his passing.

The 90-minute documentary features interviews with “famous fans” and prolific artists who knew Bowie personally, unveiling the creative vision behind some of his pivotal moments in music.
It will also explore the “strategy” behind his “artistic resurrection” - from headlining Glastonbury in 2000 to extensive touring periods in the noughties, with a look at the final decade of his career, Deadline reports.
“The traditional music documentary celebrates triumph,” says director Jonathan Stiasny. “He transformed failure into triumph, silence into revelation, and ultimately, death into art.”

“What fascinated me most when making this film was how Bowie’s final chapter wasn’t an ending, it was a resurrection,” he added.
Speaking on the new feature, Channel 4’s Shaminder Nahal says: “Bowie was one of those rare artists whose imagination never dimmed. This film reveals how, when faced with the end, he found ways to push boundaries and create something transcendent.”
It’s currently unclear when the documentary will air.
