Nativesun headlines Eaton Radio Hong Kong's relaunch party this Saturday
We speak with Director of Music James Acey, who reflects on seven years of building an “incredible archive of sound”
Eaton Radio Hong Kong, the community-driven platform founded in 2018, is officially relaunching with a brand-new website.
The refreshed digital home will serve as a central destination for listeners to access the station’s archive of over 2,000 shows, including DJ mixes, interviews, talk radio, and editorial content.
To celebrate the relaunch, Eaton Radio will host an event on Saturday, July 5 at Terrible Baby, featuring a headline performance by Washington DC-based DJ, producer, and co-founder of the trio Black Rave Culture, Nativesun.
Known for blending genres such as house, techno, Jersey club, amapiano, and jungle, Nativesun has performed at numerous notable events including Afropunk, Sustain Release, and Art Basel.
He’ll be joined by Eaton Radio HK residents Featurz and Obeahmix, Fabsabs, TAM TAM, Roy Malig and Angel B.
Eaton Radio operates from its hotel properties in Hong Kong and Washington DC, with a mission to amplify voices and creative communities both locally and internationally.
Speaking to Mixmag Asia, Eaton’s Director of Music in Hong Kong, James Acey, describes the relaunch as “a celebration of doing the work even in the early days when perhaps many weren't listening or watching. Most importantly, it's a testament to the hard work and passion of all of the presenters, in Asia and beyond, over the years who have helped build this incredible archive of sound.”
“We amplify voices and communities in both locations and many places in between as we often have guest host who are coming through Hong Kong or DC who want to spread the word on projects they might be working on or, humbly, show off and show out by blessing our platform with a DJ mix,” he adds.

The updated platform not only improves access to Eaton’s growing archive of shows, but also introduces new features for easier discovery and listening.
“It will be the one-stop shop for all things radio: shows, mixes, editorial pieces and more. Not only are shows easier to navigate by genre of music, artist name, and property the mix was recorded (Hong Kong or DC), but they are also easily streamed within the site. Furthermore, having editorial will offer us to contextualise shows beyond what was recorded,” Acey mentions.

Acey also explains that the decision to bring in Nativesun for the relaunch was both personal and symbolic, mentioning: “He is a foundational piece to what we've built in these seven years.”
As one of Eaton Radio DC’s earliest residents, Nativesun represents the station’s ethos—global in reach, community-based in spirit, and driven by a deep respect for the culture of sound.
