Morsecode Records release compilation for children’s charity

Korean minimal outfit Morsecode Records have released their third compilation of the year; ‘MRD001_we got one's back Vol.1”.

The project was brought together in an attempt to raise funds for children in war-torn countries and affected by the ongoing conflicts in the world. All proceeds from the compilation will be donated directly to UNICEF.

It features a few of Morsecode’s usual suspects when it comes to their releases, including Direkt, Zalapa, Slowmouth, Rhom Omit & Nigels, Kanegon, DOTT & Elaheh, Liem, ALTCN and Koliseum.

The artwork, created by BestLoveForMe, “vividly captures the essence of hearts shattered by the relentless onslaught of war, marked by violence and threats. The artwork intricately illustrates the emotional journey from affection to painful hatred, underscored by the madness inflicted during times of conflict.“

As always, each artist has their own flavour and unique perspective on the minimal house sound. Picking just one to highlight was tricky, however, Kanegon’s ‘Phreak Thema’ does demand attention. It’s a track that, although minimal-rooted, has a soundscape wider than the genre. It’s perfectly wrapped up in an evolving seven minutes, with vocal chops and synths that all tie together so smoothly.

Mixmag Asia caught up with label boss, Slowmouth, about the project, with him telling us: “When we first prepared the album, the donation was not the inital purpose. But we’ve been thinking about what we can do to help in these unfortunate situations across the globe. After discussing it with all the artists who kindly have participated, everyone agrees 100% to make it a charity project. We want to be able to make our small difference in these ongoing tragedies in the best way we know how. Music”.
