Koyuki drops ‘Between The Subs’ LP via own imprint, OraclesoundLab Records

D’n’b aficionado Koyuki will hit us with her debut album ‘Between The Subs’, which is out December 1 before she tours across Asia.

Emerging from the Bali scene, Koyuki has swiftly risen to the pinnacle of drum’n’bass on the island, capturing the essence of Bali's rich traditions and cutting-edge innovation in both her sets and original compositions.

The album will be released under OraclesoundLab Records — an imprint created by Koyuki and friends during the pandemic.

Within Koyuki's album, there have been three previously released singles: ‘Down On Me’, ‘Trace Of Blood’, and ‘Up Side Down’. These songs encapsulate three emotional stages of human experiences in love: disappointment or loss, hope, and gratitude, all of which are reflected in the lyrics from the featured singers.

‘Down On Me’ is considered the standout track, even though all three are in the same sonic space. The vocals from Lyta Launtner compliment the horn-heavy d’n’b stomper perfectly, all tied together with that in-your-face synth work. It doesn’t reinvent the genre or sound unlike we’ve heard before, but it’s a tried-and-tested sound executed well: commercial-leaning, fun, and nothing too serious.

She’s off on tour starting in December, with various spots in Indonesia on the schedule, as well as numerous other countries across Asia. One of the stops she’ll be making is by Hong Kong’s Oma on December 9 via invitation of Magnetic Soul.
