Mixmag Asia Radio: Balance is what keeps Wisdy’s world in shape
The Balinese DJ tells us to think of “music, earth and universe as harmony in sequence”
Balance is what keeps Wisdy’s world in shape.
The native Balinese DJ has been a pillar behind the island’s nightlife and DJ scene, working closely with venues as a long-standing resident, whilst also hosting and playing alongside some of the world’s biggest DJs who graced Bali's renowned beach clubs. The island's allure has started to resemble the multiverse of its Balearic cousin, Ibiza, and some of the globetrotters that Wisdy has worked alongside on the island have added to the island's commitment to club culture — Âme, Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Guy Gerber, Damian Lazarus, Pachanga Boys and DJ Tennis to name just a few.
Outside of Bali, the house-head islander has been invited to grace clubs in Shanghai, Amsterdam in Berlin — three incredible outings for Wisdy that really helped broaden his sound spectrum.
In a continuing effort to raise awareness of core pillars of sustainability, Mixmag Asia has spent the better half of this year talking to artists and industry professionals across the region, with an initial focus on Bali — this week’s episode of Mixmag Asia Radio highlights one of the heroes from the music scene who contributes in the best ways he can.
As a DJ, being forward-thinking with retrospect keeps his musical status quo in check. Outside of the club environment, he stands strong with mother nature to propagate a harmonious existence. “The environment and living sustainably became important issues in my life when I had two kids. It should start at home first," Wisdy affirmatively explains.
“A small step at a time, by spending more time to support the community near me in various ways, especially last year when clubs are closed due to COVID-19 and everything we’re living through what seems like a reset button.”
Wisdy tells us to think of “music, earth and universe as harmony in sequence”. And that’s exactly what he’s delivered today. Tune in to channel your inner harmony below as Wisdy takes over Mixmag Asia Radio.
