Mengzy goes “face-to-face” with Hong Kong’s first virtual DJ

Just a few weeks ago, we introduced you to Nana AE, Hong Kong’s first virtual DJ, via an interview feature with her creator, Enso.

Since her genesis in 2020, the muti-hyphenate digital persona has released two EPs, launched her own Instagram account as an influencer and, most recently, started a career as a DJ.

It goes without saying that interviewing a DJ that doesn’t actually exist was definitely a first for me as a journalist. Even though Nana AE isn’t technically ‘real’, the character, world, and lore that Enso has built around her so far made it feel like I really was getting to know somebody better.
