Man of the moment Ben Rau descends upon Bangkok for another edition of Reveries

Bangkok's got a lot of options right now, but there is one event that shines brighter than all the rest: Reveries. They've curated an infectious concept like no other, and this time that falls upon the talent of Ben Rau. The German and Ghanaian man of the moment is relishing in his moment right now following a string of stellar releases like his latest EP 'The Player' which has seen him parked at the top of Beatport's charts. One place he's not parked is at home -- Rau has been touring the world and just come from stops in South America.

Rau's influences come from his forefathers and permeates into his music. Infectious rhythmic grooves and emotive melodies mix together to form a rich, deep and hypnotic formula that speaks to your soul. Listen to 'The Player' by Ben Rau below:

For Reveries, this calibre of booking comes as no surprise. Their first event was in 2018, and there was never any struggle getting people in the door. Word spread fast of the uncompromising quality at Reveries events, and suddenly it was all Bangkokians were talking about. We asked the team why and they explained that the foundation began with selecting artists like Ben Rau — artists who deliver a soundtrack of dance floor friendly music. "We want you to know that heavy, slow, dark, hard, or industrial music won't be heard here. Our events run at high BPMs with groovy bass lines, setting the tone to let your body move."

The selection process isn't far off from vetting someone for a job, and they look deep into an artist's catalogue. The Reveries team comb through an artists production across several labels, and look to see if they have a history of residencies and tour stops across the globe, and an ear for the right song at the right time — qualities that only seasoned veterans possess. "There is something to be said for experience, which is why we choose to book DJ's with lots of it."

High-end sound is also at the top of their priority list. "To say we are enthusiastic about high-fidelity sound reproduction would be an understatement." Their partnership with Iconic Studio means their guests can always expect the best in the business. The set-up starts with a thunderous Funktion-One sound system, which they elevate by using analog mixers like Allen & Heath, ARS and Bozak (although the latter is under construction). "When you hear the music at our event, you'll recognize the difference. You deserve the best, and we're going to give it to you."

The Reveries concept is backed by Late Night Bangkok, who are responsible for the recent visits of Black Loops, Rich NxT and Mousse T (forthcoming at KITP) as well as previous guests FKJ, Doorly, Alex Metric, Opolopo, Aeroplane, German Brigante and more.

'Reveries Presents' continues this tradition on March 21 with Ben Rau at Iconic Studios. Aside from a Funktion-One sound system, the unique space also offers a funky setting with a lush and spacious interior, built-in bar, outdoor lounge and contemporary deco.
