Malaysian label mü-nest keeps in form with solo debut from D & The Compass

We’ve discovered a new relationship between chemistry and electronic music, and it comes by way of Malaysian producer and lab chemist, D & the Compass.

He’s not unfamiliar to the electronic spectrum however, The Kuala Lumpur-based producer is also the front of live duo FNGDY and synth pop band Dian Bang.

His new solo project D & The Compass takes on deeper and more current influences of isolation and pandemic-fuelled moods. The new EP titled ‘Music for Home: To A Cat’ strikes us with subtle, soft-toned and mellow melodic-frolic laid over gentle, almost ambient-house grooves. The theme of the EP revolves around a short story by Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges and an imaginary cat that lends to the EP’s title.

D & The Compass is a perfect for indie label mü-nest, a Malaysian label that has been garnering attention for its foray into the softer side of electronica. The label's 'Music for Home' is an ongoing series that shines light on ambient and electronica producers from across Asia and Europe.

D & The Compass ‘Music for Home: To A Cat’ is out now on mü-nest, you can listen below and buy here.
