Los Baro presents a 90s house-inspired sonic experience in ‘Spectrum’ EP

Los Baro (real name Randhy Yanas) is set to release his EP ‘Spectrum’ on June 30 via his own label, Arraw Records.

The Jakarta-based DJ and producer launched his music career in 2009 as a guitarist in various bands before shifting focus to DJing in 2022. He is the founder of Arraw, a collective DJ and online music broadcaster, plus is a resident DJ at Hong Kong Community Radio.

Drawing inspiration from 90s house, Italo, ambient, psychedelic and deep house, Los Baro delivers a charming tapestry of soundscapes in ‘Spectrum’ that fascinate and captivate the listener, transporting them from the early era of house music to the present.

As for the meaning behind the title, Los Baro explains, “‘Spectrum’ is a representation of the selection of continuous tone divisions, similar to the colour spectrum.”

From hypnotic beats to ambient textures, each track shows Los Baro’s artistic transformation and unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of electronic music.

One standout track, "Lucid Dream", channels the spirit of the golden era with its acid-infused resonances. It incorporates elements of funk, disco and tribal percussion, driven by engaging synth motifs, captivating vocal samples and rolling basslines that immerse the listener in a 90s-inspired sonic experience.

When asked about the track, Los Baro told Mixmag Asia, “‘Lucid Dream’ represents a clear sound but with winding paths, represented by the acid sound of a synthesiser. It's like being trapped in an adventure inside a labyrinth, representing a controllable dream, yet everything is unreal.
