Live music is making a comeback in Hong Kong with Clockenflap Presents

Living through the COVID-19 pandemic has been made that much harder by the absence of festivals for both the good music and community vibes they bring that soothe the soul. Hong Kong’s biggest festival, Clockenflap, has left a particularly noticeable blank spot on the calendar. That is, until now.

Clockenflap Presents, from the team behind Hong Kong’s biggest annual music and arts festival, has announced its return with Long Time No See on Saturday, September 18, 2021. The event will take place at MacPherson Stadium in Mongkok and will feature some of Hong Kong’s best and brightest, emerging from their creative hibernations.

It’s been two long years since the last in-person event from the iconic Asian festival; last year’s event was, like most things, held off thanks to the pandemic and the one before that was cancelled due to the social unrest at the time.

This event is a one-day affair that is to be one of a series of smaller, more intimate events than the traditional weekend-long party that Clockenflap used to be in safer, healthier times. The main festival, usually held every November, tended to get upwards of 60,000 people together to celebrate Hong Kong musicians and artists; while this upcoming Clockenflap Presents event will be somewhat smaller, one can expect to get that same communal atmosphere of love for music — except dialled to 11 as people celebrate the return of live events.

Some of the highlights include; MC Yan, who will be performing with the hip-hop group YellowPeril; a full band set from singer-songwriter cehryl; and performances from up-and-coming artists such as hisbbuR and Charming Way. See the full lineup below:

Long Time No See takes place on Saturday, September 18, 2021. You can purchase tickets and read more detailed descriptions below of the acts performing on the day here.
