Limebócx reimagine classic single ‘Hồ Tây’ into a cinematic whirlwind

Limebócx returns with ‘Hồ Tây 2.0,’ a reimagining of a track from their debut EP ‘Electrùnic’, out now via Thang Long Records.

The genre-defying trio have built a reputation for their bold fusion of traditional Vietnamese sounds with contemporary electronic styles, blending elements of dub, trip hop, and more into something wholly their own.

Originally released in 2019, the original version of ‘Hồ Tây’ stood out for its soulful grooves, intricate percussion, and sultry vocals—an endearing, effortlessly smooth listen.

The new version immediately shifts gears, opening with a hauntingly beautiful ambient soundscape. Sparse piano chords and poignant Vietnamese vocals set a deeply melancholic tone—think closing credits to the most emotionally stirring film you’ve ever seen.

As the track evolves, familiar elements from the original subtly return, but in new, recontextualised forms. With its cinematic gravitas and ever-shifting structure and tone, ‘Hồ Tây 2.0’ feels more than its 6-minute runtime.

‘Hồ Tây 2.0’ also serves as the first single from their forthcoming concept album ‘Thôn Chanh Truyện’.

The album is accompanied by a book of the same name—set to release on May 10 alongside a solo concert—which features original poems that inspired each track, illustrations, and a satirical narrative thread in the style of trào phúng, a Vietnamese satirical literary tradition dating back to 1897.
