Kitsuné Musique release garage-style collab with Froya, Shigge & Snowk

French-Japanese label Kitsuné Musique recently released a genre-blending single with Malaysian singer and songwriter Froya and producers Snowk and Shigge from Fukuoka.

Michelle Lee aka Froya has been extremely busy in the studio of recent, with ‘Sunrise’ being her eighth release in 2020, of which 4 of the releases were collaborations with Shigge. Froya could easily be seen as a genre-defying artist as the variety of her production output has certainly quickly matured over the last year, and that of course, with the help of solid collaborators.

Although most of her recent releases have been pop-tinged with hints of electronica and nu-disco, ‘Sunrise’ brings out a deeper and more soulful side of her vocal capabilities, while still staying true to her unique pop-style sensibilities. Froya announced the single on her Instagram, commenting on the post, “Lockdown has inspired a more romantic side of me.”

Kitsuné, or Maison Kitsuné, is a French-Japaneseelectronic music record label and fashion label created in 2002 by Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki. While on a trip in Japan during his time as was manager and creative director of Daft Punk, Loaëc needed a tour guide and Kuroki was was that guy. A few conversations over their love for music and fashion was all it took for the ‘fox’ themed brand to be born in 2002 with it’s first fashion collection.

For Froya, getting signed to the kitchy and trail-blazing label for this release brings her a few steps closer to be creatively involved in the unique space where fashion meets music. Kitsuné has featured some of the most prolific electronica talent fro Two Door Cinema Club, Digitalism, Is Tropica and British pop-rock band Citizens, in the past.

Snowke, Shigge and Froya ‘Sunshine’ is out now on Kitsuné Musique, and you can listen to it below.
