John Lewis 2025 Christmas advert stars classic '90s house banger
This year's emotionally-tinged ad centres around intergenerational raving via a father and son's appreciation of Alison Limerick's 'Where Love Lives'
While bookies have been betting on which pop star will be soundtracking this year's John Lewis Christmas advert, the British retailer has instead turned to the heyday of rave for its 2025 ad.
Debuted on November 4, the trademark tear-jerking ad centres around a dad unwrapping a gift from his son — a vinyl copy of Alison Limerick's iconic 1991 house banger 'Where Love Lives', before he is transported back to a raucous dancefloor from his youth.

Featuring both Limerick's original and a slower version created by Labrinth specifically for John Lewis' 2025 Christmas campaign, the advert centres around the emotional tagline "If you can’t find the words, find the gift."
According to The Metro, Limerick said she "squealed like an excited child" when it was revealed that her track had been chosen for this year's John Lewis advert.
"Music has always had the power to bring all kinds of peeps together, but I hope this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert will give those who see it a new, emotional connection with the song – especially with what Labrinth has created. His gentle version is just so beautiful; it’s sure to fill the heart with love," she said.

Labrinth added: "To think a boy like me from East London, Hackney, who grew up watching this iconic advert would one day reimagine a classic and compose a piece of music for John Lewis’s forward-thinking direction is a big deal for me."
