Jay Pei's 3-week residency Dairo in New Delhi includes Ableton Live workshops & performances

Lab Rat Studio co-founder and Global Music Institute teacher Jay Pei will be curating a three month musical residency titled Dairo at New Delhi’s Auro Kitchen and Bar, between September and November this year.

Dairo or dayro, is an ancient storytelling method from Pei’s home state, Gujarat: it is essentially made up of folk singing and narrating; Jay Pei aims to cultivate a stronger understanding of the tools that the new generation of independent artists would benefit from, through music production all the way to navigating the musical landscape and industry. The key focus will be around Ableton Live and how to use it for production and performance.

The first event held on 24 September will feature Ableton Certified Trainers Zainab Wani and Aditya Balani who will split their focus on Producing Electro and Songwriting on Live, respectively. Graphic designer Sijya Gupta, who has worked on various projects like boxout.fm, Dualist Inquiry and Sandunes, will share insights on how artists can build a strong visual identity for themselves.

Following Sijya, the performances at the debut event will include DJ Jef, a minimal house and techno DJ from Jaipur, who will be joined by host Jay Pei showcasing his live set, and Delhi’s Zequenx will finish off the night twitch her flavours of dark and psychedelic soundscapes.
