Saucer-eyed astral travels on Inner Science's dazzling 'Cosmo Tracks' EP

Inner Science lands on French label Cosmocities with his exquisitely spacey 'Cosmo Tracks' EP.

The Japanese producer, real name Masumi Nishimura, has been releasing genre-bending sounds under the familiar moniker for over 20 years, with material arriving on labels including Plain Music, Soup Disk, and Blending Tone. His latest polychromatic work features three breathtaking originals alongside remixes from British musical polymath Joe Goddard and Giegling regular, Map.ache.

Teleporting listeners deep inside his brilliantly morphing headspace, Nishimura glides through dreamy textures and intricate sound design across the EP. First, the idiosyncratic flex of 'Unfold' sees shimmering pads and delicate synth threads intertwine over a dense acid bed and throbbing drums. Maintaining the astral trajectory, 'Quiet Track' skirts the gloriously supple line between ambient and deep house, with psychedelic swirls cascading over a stripped rhythm track. The blissed-out mood of 'Never Fade Away' transcends time and space, with waves of sumptuous synth textures filling the mind-melting panorama.

Next, Hot Chip alumnus and all-round musical maestro Joe Goddard steps up with his version of 'End Of The Begining', with delicately woven layers dancing over thick, chugging drums for a low-slung deep house meditation. Finally, Map.ache picks up the pace with his effervescent take on 'Momentary Spread', with evocative pads and enigmatic staccato synths blended over deep bass and energetic beats.

This is mesmerising work across the board, with each cut destined to light up the festival circuit over the coming weeks and months.
