Hong Kong Community Radio announces a cutting edge new roster of residents

Community radio stations have been around for some time now, giving new and original platforms for underground musicians, but they’re certainly enjoying a heyday right now. The opportunities provided by the cancellation of clubs night and festivals around Asia have catapulted legions of underground radio stations into the limelight and given their programs and listenership a method and a means. Following an open call, when Hong Kong Community Radio (HKCR) announced their August programme, it came with the announcement of a roster of new talent.

Moving away from their traditional format, HKCR has invited newcomers and acquaintances from different countries, continents and cities to join the community. See the full programme below.

HKCR was founded in the Fragrant Harbour in 2016 by Gavin Wong, from Hong Kong label Absurd Trax, and Davy Law, who runs another Hong Kong-based label, Neoncity Records. Its community however is made up of creative people, musicians, artists and supporters. While they aren't funded, they've grown rapidly with the aim of providing safe space for newcomers, outsiders and "those who are marginalised to create a voice of their all".
