Honey Dijon to curate exhibition at London’s Tate Modern Lates this month

Honey Dijon is set to curate a one-off exhibition at London’s Tate Modern gallery next week in celebration of LGBTQIA+ History Month.

As part of the gallery’s Tate Lates series, the Chicago DJ will host a night of conversations, workshops, listening experiences, and a gallery tour celebrating queerness on Friday, February 27.

The event will run from 6:PM until 10:PM, starting with a listening experience titled ‘Honey Dijon Presents The Nightlife’ in the gallery’s South Tanks, with music curated by the artist alongside her polaroid collection capturing “candid, unfiltered moments” across club culture.

Two workshops will also be hosted across the gallery: A queer zine-making workshop with sweet-thang zine using teachings from Audre Lorde’s essay Poetry Is Not A Luxury, and a separate Tate Draw workshop using digital sketch pads.

“You’re invited to respond to the questions: what is possible within yourself, what hopes and fears can be made tactile, what words hold power, and what does creative expression excavate?” reads a description on Tate's website.

Honey Dijon will host a talk from 7:30PM until 8:30PM inside the gallery’s Starr Cinema, opening up a discussion about “her music, artistic inspirations, and the evolution of queer club culture”.

Two gallery tours will also take place across the evening, offering an “exploration of Tate’s collection through the lens of gender identity and a discovery of queer stories”.

DJ sets from Keyrah, Serenda, and more still to be announced, will go ahead across several areas of the gallery throughout the evening, with artists selected by Honey Dijon herself.
