HER 他 Transmission marks 200th mixtape milestone with DJ AYA

HER 他, the event series and mixtape platform founded by Cloudy Ku, is celebrating a significant milestone with the 200th edition of its HER 他 Transmission mixtape.

As the label approaches its fifth anniversary, DJ AYA joins the celebration, bringing her distinct, bass-driven sound to this landmark episode, kicking off 2025 with a vibrant tribute to equality and inclusivity.

Launched in 2020, HER 他 has been a pioneering force in promoting gender equality and amplifying the voices of women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ artists within the music industry.

With roots in Melbourne, Australia, and Taipei, Taiwan, the label has fostered a global community through its event series and mixtape platform. In response to the challenges posed by the pandemic, HER 他 Transmission was born to offer a consistent space for artists to showcase their talent.

“Since I started the open call, I have been able to find out, hear and sometimes meet so many more artists from around the world, and the volume of amazingly talented people out there always blows my mind,” Cloudy shares with Mixmag Asia.

The series has showcased an eclectic line-up of artists, including Angel Marcloid (Fire-Toolz), Ayebatonye, Betty Apple, Chicks On Speed, DJ Bus Replacement Service, Stev Zar, Wanton Witch, and Yuko Araki.

Notably, its 130th edition, featuring Taiwan's Lin Gia, was featured in our list of eclectic and off-kilter mixes of 2023.

For its 200th edition, DJ AYA—the Zurich-born, Berlin-based artist, and co-head of the (lip) service label—brings her dynamic energy to the series with a unique blend of UK bass, grime, and reggaeton.

“DJ AYA’s work aligns deeply with HER 他’s values of equality and inclusivity. In the global queer music scene, her dedication to amplifying the voices of women and queers perfectly reflects HER 他’s mission,” Cloudy explains.

HER 他’s work transcends mixtapes, hosting events that fuse dialogue and dance to champion workplace and community equality.

With its fifth anniversary on the horizon, Cloudy remains steadfast: “HER 他 is a lifelong project for me. While the workload can be heavy, I am committed to continuing to serve women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ communities. The mixtape series and open-call submissions will carry on, providing a platform for artists to share their voices.”
