The Indian artist's latest Banjara series adventures take him to the roof of the world

Title: Dakini Tales
Artist: Hamza Rahimtula
Label: Wind Horse Records
Release Date: Out now
New Delhi-based Hamza Rahimtula continues his prolific studio work rate with the latest in his long-running Banjara Series.
The new 10-track 'Banjara Series, Tibet' album features house-centred compositions inspired by the country's spiritually charmed mountain territory, including collaborations alongside Tibetan singer-songwriter Yungchen Lhamo and US songwriter and composer, David Hykes.
Those who've been keeping tabs on Rahimtula's trans-global productions through South America, Spain, Mali and beyond will know approximately what to expect from the new edition, with traditional folk motifs expertly woven into a polished deep house groove. Sure enough, the album bursts with highlights, but our Audio Asia pick this week stood out for us as the most immediate track included in the fine collection. 'Dakini Tales' build over a tight four/four rhythm, with infectious guitar plucks, mystical pitched percussion and haunting vocal refrains elegantly floating over sun-focused bass. Hypnotic, compelling, and primed for in-the-know dancefloors, this is beguiling work from the Wind Horse Records boss.
