Gorillaz hint at new music ahead of 25th anniversary celebrations
New music will seemingly be debuted during a four-date string of live shows in London later this month
New music from Gorillaz could be on the way soon.
In a new interview with Channel 4, bandmates Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett teased the release of new music ahead of their 25th anniversary celebrations.
When asked about their forthcoming, four-date string of live shows in London kicking off later this month, Albarn explained: “We’re playing the first album, second album, and third album, then the fourth one is a mystery”.
They were then asked if the fourth ‘mystery show’ would feature new music, with Albarn responding: “There might. I mean, yes, in that sense, yeah,” while Hewlett looked off screen and pretended to cut his throat.

The news comes ahead of an era-spanning celebration of Gorillaz as they celebrate 25 years since their formation, with four “celebratory one-off live shows”, and an immersive exhibition, House of Kong.
House of Kong opened up at the Copper Box in London’s Olympic Park on August 8, and is set to run each day from 10:30AM - 10:PM until September 3.
The exhibition promises a look behind the curtain of Gorillaz’ artistry over the years, a journey through “the band’s life of misadventures, musical innovation and groundbreaking virtual ways”.

Gorillaz fanpage everythingorillaz claimed in a new post on Instagram that you might be able to “hear a snippet” of new music at the exhibition, and “see new art”.
Earlier this year, Damon Albarn teased new music in an interview with Les Inrockuptibles, saying his plans for 2025 included "finishing a new Gorillaz album”.
The last album from Gorillaz landed more than two years ago in 2023 with the release of ‘Cracker Island’, which featured Thundercat, Tame Impala, and more.
