Goldie launched gamified graffiti app called Arta
The project is set up via his own crowdfunding platform and is open to backers on January 12th
When Goldie was honored with an MBE a few weeks ago, upon receiving it he was quoted saying that the accolade was just the beginning and not the end of his achievements.
And just a few days later he’s already coming through on his promise.
The Metalheadz don has just announced his own crowdfunding platform via his own websitewww.goldie.co.uk. The first campaign to go live is a graffiti inspired app called ARTA that he co-created with Henry Chalfant. ARTA is an acronym which stands for Art Rail Transit Authority.
ARTA allows for users to engage in a virtual world of graffiti, inspired by the drum ‘n’ bass legend’s graffiti influenced artistic endeavors, and interact directly with pioneers of the art form.
The app took three years to produce and the project goes live on January 12th with the app itself scheduled for a summer launch.
The crowdfunding platform itself will allow fans of his to follow his 2016 projects and pledgers will be the first to receive invites to related events. Backers of the project will also gain access to newsletters, digital images, limited edition merchandise, early releases of VIP paint packages and other game bonuses.
Goldie hopes that by allowing people to interact directly with him, his fans can become not just connected but involved with the evolution of his creativity.
Goldie, who has sold 2.5 million records to date, can easily be considered a modern day Renaissance Man now that he’s added an MBE and app to his long list of laurels. He’s long been known for his outstanding contribution to music culture for his over two decades as a drum ‘n’ bass DJ, as well as picking up credits as an actor, producer and artist.
