As the pandemic simmers down in Kuala Lumpur, up comes a rise in events again from the tropical peninsular of Malaysia. This coming December 4 – 6, a brand new bootcamp is set up to bring light to the growing pool of talents that have been waiting patiently to see the crowds behind the decks. re:LIVE by From The Live Decks is the brainchild of three powerhouses in the Malaysian music industry: Wired Music Week, DJs Playground and AMP Asia. This educational platform will be also be partnering up with label Astralwerks — the dance music arm of Universal Music — by powering up the creative portion of the challenges throughout the bootcamp.
The press release notes that John Beh, Founder of Wired Music Week says, “This pandemic has rippled a change in the way we consume and contextualize music. We need a detox from past conventional methods and [re:LIVE] serves that purpose for a fresh restart to the meaning of community building.”
DJ Reeve, the creator of DJs Playground and a RedBull Thre3style Champion, adds, “Bringing the idea [of FTLD] to life requires maximum effort and commitment. Being able to curate something so special with like-minded partners motivates my team and I to explore practical methods to continue inspiring newcomers in the music scene — without eliminating the fun.”
The event looks to provide a learning space for local artists, music creators or budding enthusiasts to master their craft through a weekend of creativity, connection, collaboration, inspiration and networking with industry professionals. Focusing on four core pillars — Build, Collaborate, Grow and Inspire; the event will curate a musical journey that focuses on untouched conversation through “career development, collaborations, industry topics, and personal growth.” The event will also include talks and workshops from industry experts, hangouts and networking for insider tips and relationship-building to a creative challenge that gets your creative juices flowing in 24 hours. Some of the panellists include MFMF, DJ Fuzz, TikTok content creator Joyvnn, local duo producer group ENOPE, local artist NAHSYK and many more.
This three-day two-night bootcamp kicks off with a hotel takeover in Kuala Lumpur’s first social hotel, Momo’s KL. There are two flexible ticket options with two different types of rooms — a Shared Room Experience Ticket for MYR200/pax or a Private Room Experience Ticket for MYR300/pax.
Seeing as international borders are still shut in Malaysia, the event also provides a worldwide livestream option for those who are interested in joining for MYR50/pax. Spots are very limited due to the strict standard operating procedures of the country’s COVID-19 regulations and we have partnered up with the organisers to provide a giveaway for one lucky winner to stand a chance to win a Private Room Experience Ticket.
