François Kevorkian & Dimitri From Paris announce joint EP ‘The Nassau Excursion’
The two artist’s first-ever studio project releasing via Rush Hour music comes inspired by the Compass Point studio’s rhythm-led, dub-influenced sound
François Kevorkian and Dimitri From Paris have announced a new collaborative EP The Nassau Excursion, and have just shared its first preview.
‘The Compass Point’ arrives as a short edit, driven by firm drum machine pattern and heavy synth bass anchoring the track, while dub techniques shape the arrangement
Echoed vocal fragments, delayed keys, and drifting congas move in and out, while DJ Rocca’s contribution adds jazz-funk-leaning synth lines and restrained chord work.
This EP marks the first studio project together for both artists, despite a relationship that goes back more than three decades.

According to Rush Hour Music’s Substack, the two first met in the DJ booth at Tokyo’s Spacelab Yellow and connected through shared interests in disco, dance music history, and production techniques.
Those early conversations developed into a long-running exchange of ideas, with Kevorkian’s work as a disco-era DJ, producer, and remixer informing much of Dimitri’s approach.

The project takes its name from Compass Point Studio in Nassau, Bahamas, where Kevorkian worked during a key period of his career.
The space’s rhythm-driven, dub-influenced post-disco sound—shaped by figures like Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare, and Wally Badarou—forms the foundation of the EP’s three tracks
Releasing on February 27 via Rush Hour Music, the EP is ready for pre-order here.
