DJ CHICA makes production debut on ghetto tech anthem ‘Hotel Suite’
Released via DJ Slugo’s Subterranean Playhouse imprint, the track is accompanied by a remix from the label head
Hanoi-based ling:chi has announced her alter ego DJ CHICA, who steps out with confidence on her debut single titled ‘Hotel Suite’.
The track has been released via Subterranean Playhouse, the imprint helmed by ghetto-tech pioneer DJ Slugo.
It’s a bold first statement that weaves a sultry vocal sample of the artist’s own voice through a timeless 909 backbone, layering bass-heavy grooves and street-leaning textures into a ghetto-tech whirlwind of fun, freedom and flirtation.

The release also comes armed with a remix from DJ Slugo himself. The label boss adds weight, lineage and full-circle legitimacy, delivering a cut that nods to the genre’s roots while nudging it into the future.
"DJ CHICA is my alter ego, where I let go of expectations and just have fun. While my main alias LING:CHI explores the more accessible, crowd-pleasing side of house and techno, DJ CHICA goes in another direction. It shows a limitlessly fun and unserious approach to Asian dancefloors," she shares with Mixmag Asia.

She continues: "The name came naturally. I was inspired by legends like DJ Funk, DJ Deeon, and DJ Godfather, so I decided to use the same format. ‘Chi’ is literally the name on my ID card, so DJ Chica felt right—easy to remember yet also makes people wonder. ‘Chica’ means young girl, which perfectly describes myself. At least for now...try asking me again in five years!"
While this may be DJ CHICA’s official debut, ling:chi is already established across Asia’s club circuit, known as a selector whose presence, personality and punch make her a favourite from Hanoi to beyond.
