EMC x Mixmag Asia bridge APAC’s electronic music communities at The Gathering on December 11
A day of cultural exchange and collaboration for creative communities in APAC, topped with a public afterparty at Feral
Presented by EMC and Mixmag Asia, this first edition of The Gathering is a pop-up event that connects electronic music culture across APAC.
This collaborative event on Wednesday, December 11 brings together artists, creatives, and industry professionals from the region for an afternoon of engaging discussions, network building, and cultural exchange.
Speaking on the importance of connecting the region, EMC Director Jane Slingo explains: “It’s a pivotal moment across the Asia-Pacific electronic music landscape and we’re seeing an incredible creative energy flowing between Australia and Asia. By bringing together diverse artistic and creative voices in an intimate setting at The Gathering, we hope to catalyse future collaborations and contribute to nurturing a movement that will continue to shape electronic music culture in this region. We anticipate the connections made at The Gathering 2024 will ripple through the creative communities in APAC for years to come.”
This first iteration of The Gathering—initiated by Jane and Mixmag Asia Director Arun Ramanathan—is invite-only and includes 12 standout artists from the EMC x Mixmag Asia APAC Artist Retreat.
Hosted on December 8-10 at the renowned Karma Studios founded by industry veteran Chris Craker, this retreat fosters three days of relationship-building and musical collaboration.
The inspiring APAC Artist Retreat line-up speaks for itself: Indonesia’s Batavia Collective and Bottlesmoker, Dualist Inquiry from India, DeepFaith, Elle Shimada, Maggie Tra and RONA from Australia plus NOTEP, TONTRAKUL and Naris representing the local Thai scene.
During The Gathering on December 11, facilitated exchanges will cover topics such as infrastructure and support systems for APAC artists, the transformative power of collaboration, innovation, sustainability, and well-being for creatives, communities and the broader industry ecosystem.
Join After The Gathering— the public event on December 11 starting 7pm onwards at Bangkok’s newest hotspot, Feral with Hong Kong selectors Adrianna, Mill.H, and xylon. Feral’s intimate vibe and premium soundsystem will provide the perfect backdrop for this pre-Wonderfruit warm-up.
