Audio Asia: Eddie Niguel serves saucer-eyed techno on latest track 'Life'
The SG artist lands on Percebes Música's far-reaching new compilation
8/10
Title: Life
Artist: Eddie Niguel
Label: Percebes Música
Release Date: Out now
Singaporean producer Eddie Niguel lands on Percebes Música with a deviant techno flourish, serving wigged-out nocturnal grooves on his brooding new track, 'Life'.
The Integrity Records boss carved out a little time away from label curation to resume his studio exploits, adding to an impressive list of releases on the likes of BBE, Midnight Shift, and Dig Deeper with an inclusion on Percebes' new 'Produto Interno Bruto' compilation. Assembled by the Lisbon-based label's frontman (and respected producer), Ka§par, the 13-track album veers through the hidden corners of dance music's deepest depths and features an array of far-flung artists. From the heads-down synth wonkiness of Leonidas & TK1's 'Vanilla' to the fizzing future jungle of AL:X's 'Can't Handle It', all kinds of weird and wonderful sonic textures permeate the collection.
Representing Asia in fine style, Niguel steps up with a throbbing, off-kilter techno jam, with undulating synth chords swirling over thick four/four drums and spaced-out bleeps and pops. Distant vocal cuts glide across the horizon as the floor-focused arrangement unfolds, dipping and building to keep dancers locked into the twisted groove.
This is excellent work from the Singapore stalwart, standing up proudly alongside the roundly enjoyable collection of subterranean pearls compiled on the far-reaching album.
