Dungi Sapor teams up with Nebulosa on striking video for lead single ‘Cha Cha’

Taiwanese artist Dungi Sapor has released her debut album, ‘Dungi Sapor’, alongside a captivating music video with the help of Nebulosa for the lead single, ‘Cha Cha’.

Hailing from the Hualien Cikasuan Rinahem Tribe, Dungi has been a key figure in Taiwan's underground scene with her innovative fusion of indigenous sounds and modern electronic music, leading to her boldly unique sound and style.

The LP is a testament to her ability to merge contrasting worlds seamlessly. It features an eclectic mix of styles, each track offering a distinct sound while maintaining a deep connection to her tribal heritage.

From the Yaeji-esque, UKG/bass-inspired 'Bead Tree' to the dark, brooding energy of ‘Firewood’ and the infectious, feel-good house vibes of ‘Like a River’ every song on the LP reflects her versatility as an artist, all rooted in the cultural richness of her indigenous background through samples, traditional instrumentation and collaborators.

The lead single, ‘Cha Cha’, stands out as a fusion of Amapiano and tribal influences. The track is a reimagining of ‘The Amis Cha Cha’, a traditional piece of music from the Amis indigenous tribe that was an integral part of Dungi's childhood.

The accompanying music video, shot across Paris and her native Hualien, brings this cultural journey to life with stunning visuals.

The opening two minutes offer a cinematic, atmospheric introduction to Taiwan's aboriginal culture and landscapes, showcasing a way of life that often goes unnoticed. As the track kicks in, the video shifts to a more traditional music video vibe, complementing the upbeat, infectious rhythm of the song.

This music video marks another collaboration between Dungi and Nebulosa, following their first joint project in Taroko Gorge. Their previous partnership highlighted Taiwan's natural beauty and Dungi’s indigenous heritage through the lens of electronic music.

Reflecting on her debut project, Dungi Sapor shared: “My inspiration primarily comes from my tribe. I have always loved dancing in the community since childhood. This music features classic songs that I grew up with, and I want to share our cultural lifestyle with everyone.”
