DJ Shaun’s 'Way Back Home' with Sam Feldt & Conor Maynard smashes 100M streams on Spotify

On December 21, 2018, the Sam Feldt edit of ‘Way Back Home’ feat. Conor Maynard by SHAUN came out on Spinnin' Records. Just under a year later the track has already racked up a dizzying 100 million Spotify streams.

Not bad for South Korean singer-songwriter, DJ and producer SHAUN, who debuted in 2010 as the keyboardist and backup singer of indie rock band The Koxx. Rewind to July 2018, and his solo song ‘Way Back Home’ bested both BTS and BLACKPINK on the South Korean charts, and charted at #1 for 7 consecutive weeks in Vietnam on Apple Music/Spotify.

By late 2018 the song had caught the ear of Dutch electronic star Sam Feldt, who reworked it into a lovely piece of dance music. In the new version Feldt replaced the original’s tropical vibes with his characteristic warm deep house grooviness, laying down a mid-tempo beat and sunny acoustic guitar lick alongside SHAUN's original song structure. Conor Maynard delivers his sentimental English vocals alongside SHAUN’s Korean, and the record retains the original's breeziness in a stronger, uplifting way. Besides the Spotify success, the Sam Feldt edit has also racked up over 42 million YouTube views to date. It’s safe to say it’s another cross-border hit for Spinnin’.
