Dialled In, a new South-Asian focused festival is heading to London
Daytimers, No ID & Chalo team up on the new festival
Dialled In is a brand new festival coming to London this year focusing on South Asian talent.
Spanning the course of three months from August to October 2021, Dialled In promises a range of events from live music to conferences.
The festival was created in a collaboration between UK-based collectives Daytimers, No ID, and Chalo, all of which focus on South Asian talent and creatives.
“The aim of Dialled In is to showcase how South Asian artists have been boxed in by a predominantly white-focused creative industry. The work aims to inspire younger South Asian creatives by breaking down doors and paving a way forward,” said a spokesperson for the festival.
So far, the festival has locked in names such as Nabihah Iqbal, Manara, NAINA, Auntie Flo, DEBONAIR, Yung Singh, alongside over 20 more. Events across the four months will include parties, roundtable talks, a mentorship programme and a documentary screening.
A day and night party will take place on September 11 across multiple venues at Uplands Business Park, featuring live music from local artists and members of the collectives who put the festival together.
Meanwhile, roundtable talks will take place across the three-month festival at venues around London’s Walthamstow. These events will create a discussion around the marginalised communities, and prompt open conversations alongside the Daytimers crew.
Dialled In will also run a mentorship scheme for emerging talent, helping new artists and DJs to find their feet in the music industry.
Ahad Elley AKA Ahadadream, director of Dialled In, said: “When I was coming up in the music industry, I didn’t feel I had enough role models that looked like me.
“This whole project is for the next generation of South Asian creatives to have a different experience going forward.”
