Dark & avant-garde, Taiwanese label Professor.E drops a striking FW collection
The collection sees the label experiment with gender-fluid silhouettes
According to their bio, Professor.E is hypothetical character born in a World War II laboratory, genetically sampled into Guy Fawkes' DNA, who is one of the conspirators who triggered the gunpowder conspiracy in 1605.
We’re not sure how this influences Professor.E’s expansive dark and avant-garde range of designs, but it probably something to do with the immortality of their looks: from their use of cotton and hemp, as well as different fabric stitching, patching, designs without edge trimming, deconstruction and reproduction — all are Professor.E's signature elements and run strong through their design DNA.
Following its SS2020 women’s line, Professor.E returns with a second collection that is designed with both genders in mind. FW2020 that is an experimentation in striking silhouette shifting that sees the brand turn away from its usual drapey styles. They've also employed lots of velvet and lace for a subtle feminine flair.
The collection also comes with a seasonal print long sleeve series, and after developing its own denim jacquard fabrics, you’ll see them applied to a range of garments as well as wool constructions that are accented by leather panels that still convey a sense of layering.
Once strictly a menswear line, Professor.E is a rising name amid Taiwan’s fashion industry and has piqued interest outside its borders for its fantastical looks. Now, the label is showcasing femininity through its latest collections.
