Life imitates The Simpsons, again: Cypress Hill announce London Symphony Orchestra collab

Yet another prediction from The Simpsons has become reality, with Cypress Hill just announcing that they will be performing with the London Symphony Orchestra this Summer.

The hip hop group are set to perform on stage with the orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall on July 10, three decades on from the now-iconic Simpsons gag.

The Simpsons first predicted the collaboration during an episode first aired in 1996, during which Cypress Hill had accidentally booked the LSO to perform at Lolapalooza "while high."

"Do you know Insane in the Brain?", the cartoon Cypress Hill asked in the episode. "We mostly know classical but we could give it a shot", unlikely collaborators, LSO, respond.

"It's a dream come true, a collaboration only The Simpsons could have predicted", Cypress Hill revealed in a statement seen by Mixmag.

Made up of Sen Dog, B-Real and DJ Muggs, Cypress Hill will take over the Royal Albert Hall alongside the world-renowned orchestra on July 10.

The 90's hip hop group are to perform hits from their second album, 'Black Sunday', at the long-awaited concert including the GRAMMY-nominated 'Insane in the Brain' and 'I Wanna Get High'.

Managing director of LSO, Kathryn McDowell, equally shared her excitement "Fans may have started to believe it would only be a pipedream – but the LSO is delighted to finally be joining Cypress Hill on stage and in person".

Rumours have long since circulated online with hopeful speculation of the Simpsons-inspired concert. However, last year anticipation rose as reports came in that a collaboration could be in the works.

Cypress Hill have also announced a 2024 U.S. tour, titled We Legalized It, set to kick off on April 18 supported by The Pharcyde and Souls of Mischief.

According to Billboard, the pro-marijuana hip hop group will pledge $1 of each ticket sold to a non-profit that advocates for a progressive drug policy in the U.S. called The Last Prisoner Project.
