Coachella organiser, Goldenvoice has been fined for breaking curfew rules each night of the first weekend of the festival accumulating to $117,000 (£94,071).

In 2013, Coachella signed an agreement with the city of Indio to follow a curfew policy that includes a 11:PM curfew on Sundays and a midnight curfew for Fridays and Saturdays.

The agreement reads that if the festival runs five minutes past the curfew it equals a $20,000 fine with every subsequent minute adding $1,000.

The fines are claimed by Pitchfork to go towards the city’s operating costs, public works and police and fire departments.

This agreement between Goldenvoice and the city of Indio also includes the restriction of under-18s from “loitering” around streets, avenues, alleys, parks and other areas between the hours of 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM.

Frank Ocean performed for his first show in six years at the weekend’s festival however was forced to end early due to a midnight curfew.

The artist started his set an hour late which resulted in it running over time leaving fans disappointed.

Data found by CasinoAlpha.com shows that searches for “sell Coachella tickets” went up by 445% worldwide just hours after Ocean’s set.

Coachella festival will continue with its second weekend which will see the return of headliners Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK, and Frank Ocean.
