Clockenflap owners launch Asia-wide event marketing agency called arcc

Magnetic Asia has announced that they would be joined hands with Martin Lever, a long-time Hong Kong-based ad-agency creative director, to launch a full-service event marketing and creative agency entitled arcc. As the current owners of Clockenflap and organisers of Sónar Hong Kong, they know a thing or two about how to sell events.

Arcc is essentially an initialism of "audience insight, market research, focused creativity and effective content" — (Audience, Research, Creativity, Content) and will aim to offer everything from positioning and marketing strategy, creative content, all the way through to event management, sponsorship and logistics.

Simon Bratt, a managing partner at arcc, explains that the team saw an opportunity to elevate the quality and effectiveness of event and experience marketing across Asia. "Too often we see a 'build it and hope they will come' mentality. Basic planning elements, such as positioning strategy and audience analysis, seem to be missing from so many event marketing plans. Not to mention innovative creative work! No wonder so many events fail!"

"It's not rocket science," Lever adds. "But to generate the kind of desire that leads to 'sold out' events in today's cluttered marketplace, you need an innovative mix of people, skills and tools. That's the kind of new agency model we're building here at arcc."

Even before their official launch, arcc has already picked up Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund/HSBC JUMPSTARTER (an Alibaba-sponsored global entrepreneur event), FEAST (a series of unique pop-up food festivals in HK) as well as several more entertainment projects in partnership with Magnetic Asia. Naturally, this includes Clockenflap, Sónar and Ticketflap, one of the major ticketing companies in Hong Kong.
