An international 2-day house & techno festival debuts in Lombok this December

While Bali has long been known for being an idyllic culture clash of music and escapism, tourism has somewhat stripped the experience of its isolated allure. But the magic that existed 30 years ago still exists on neighboring Lombok, where you’ll find an island free from traffic and development and full of beaches, bucolic views and humble locals.

We’re honestly surprised that this is the first time we’re writing about a destination festival in Lombok. But this December 16–17, Burning Beach Festival will debut on the paradisiacal island as a first-of-a-kind event for the region. Targeting partygoers who have a sophisticated taste in house and techno, an appreciation for luxury destinations and highly curated experiences on a pristine beach, Burning Beach Festival is remixing the clubland experience for those who enjoy the finer things in life. The multi-day and stage event also includes custom-designed stages, art installations, whimsical gardens, a chill-out zone, and a secret on-site nightclub…if you can find it.

Just 1.5 hours from Bali, on the breathtaking white sand Kuta Mandalika Beach, international artists like Danny Tenaglia, Richy Ahmed, Anja Schneider, Monkey Safari, A Friend of Marcus, Drumcomplex, Catz ’N Dogz and many more will descend upon the unspoiled island. (The organizers are staggering more line-up announcements over the coming days and weeks). For obvious reasons, the international acts have been announced first, but we have it on good authority that regional contributions will be the finishing touches on the finely tuned event. In total, the festival will welcome 40+ artists spanning house, techno and tropical beats.

The destination festival is rounded off by the types of activities you’d expect from a vibey tropical island in Indonesia: sparkling white-sand beaches, stellar surf breaks, world-class scuba diving and snorkeling, as well as nature trails and an abundance of flora and fauna for the intrepid partygoer.

Phase 1 tickets are already on sale until September 24 for IDR 1.2 million (US$80) for GA after which the price goes up to IDR 1.440 mil (US$90) on September 25 for phase 2. Phase 3 begins on October 31 and will run you IDR 1.6 mil (US$107). VIP passes and luxury cabana experiences are also selling alongside tickets. Add-ons like hotel packages and charter flight and boat deals from Bali are also on the table for the most seamless experience.

More activations, collaborations and takeovers with some of the most well-known and beloved brands in Bali, Jakarta and beyond are still to come—including something the Mixmag Asia team is busy brewing—we just didn’t want to overload you just yet. But first...a giveaway…
