Black Artist Database launch new label with compilation album ‘Synergy’
The record features NIKS, Amaliah, Afrodeutsche, and more
Black Artist Database (B.A.D.) has announced the launch of a brand new imprint, soon to be debuted with a seven-track compilation album titled ‘Synergy Vol. 1’.
Calling it “a record label for us, by us”, B.A.D. is due to officially launch on June 2 with seven new tracks from “Black artists past and present”.
The announcement came yesterday, May 11, revealing the seven artists set to appear on the first compilation release: AFRODEUTSCHE, Amaliah, Chmba, DJ Holographic, Lyric Hood, rRoxymore and Black Artist Database co-founder NIKS.

“We hope to spotlight Black artists from all over the world, both established and newcomers, as well as serve as a home for archival releases and reissues,” they said.
“Fully run by Black music industry creatives, our goal is to keep money within our community and create a collaborative cross-continental network of artists and industry professionals.”
The record is also said to be a collection of sounds that “journeys through the electronic spectrum”, bridging between genres and themes.
“Exploring celebration, unity and Black joy by an intercontinental selection of visionary artists that deeply inspire B.A.D.,” they added.

The first track from the compilation comes from Black Artist Database co-founder NIKS, ‘Badness, Can’t Work’. The track was created during a six-week break last summer, the producer said on Instagram, where she took the time to “deep dive” into Ableton.
“I wanted to convey the underground vibey elements of music that have influenced my ears over the years,” she added.
