On Friday, 23 May, 2025, unspun Studio and SOOOP are hosting Beyond the Screen; an evening of experimental animation, interactive art, and discussion.

unspun is a fashion tech company using 3D weaving and body scanning to reinvent how clothing is made, with a strong focus on sustainability.

Its studio at Shin Hing Steps in Central, Hong Kong, also serves as a hub for creative events and community engagement.

Meanwhile, SOOOP is a local animation platform that curates short film screenings and fosters collaboration between Hong Kong’s animation talent and international artists.

Held at unspun Studio, Beyond the Screen runs from 6-10pm, with part of the proceeds going to support earthquake relief in Myanmar through Better Burma.

The program opens with an interactive projection by Shana Aminova, inviting visitors to reshape a digital space through movement.

This is followed by a series of short films and a feature screening of Nothing Really Happened by Mufasa Yu, which blends surreal visuals with an ambient, post-rock score.

Closing out the evening will be a panel discussion exploring the relationship between art and technology with the filmmakers.

Food will be provided by Burmese Apron, a project founded to share stories of Myanmar through home-cooked meals. 25% of all food sales will go to Better Burma’s earthquake relief fund.
