A list of ways to aid those affected by the Myanmar earthquake

On March 28, 2025, at 12:50 p.m. local time, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar near Mandalay.

The earthquake's impact extended beyond Myanmar's borders, resulting in over 3,000 deaths, 4,850 injuries, and around 220 missing individuals. According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), this level of devastation "hasn't been seen over a century in Asia".

In Bangkok, Thailand, the tremors caused the collapse of a skyscraper under construction in the Chatuchak district, resulting in 18 fatalities and leaving many trapped.

Southwestern China also reported tremors.

In Mandalay, the earthquake led to the collapse of numerous buildings and significant damage to infrastructure, including the airport due to the collapse of an air traffic control tower. Rescue operations have also faced challenges due to blocked roads and downed bridges.

Despite these obstacles, local volunteers and residents are working tirelessly, searching for survivors amid the rubble.

As of March 31, aftershocks continued to shake the region, causing complications towards ongoing rescue and relief operations.

The full extent of the disaster remains uncertain, with many areas still inaccessible to aid workers and Myanmar’s ongoing civil conflict is making coordination even harder.

There are several ways to support those affected by the Myanmar earthquake, from donating to relief efforts to spreading awareness.

Various initiatives have been set up to provide emergency assistance, including financial aid and essential supplies for impacted communities. Efforts are also being amplified through social media, helping to mobilise support and resources.
