Bali teases a new oceanfront boho beach club for music lovers

Mari Beach Club promises an immersive "Little Bali" experience along Batu Belig Beach

There is no shortage of beach clubs on Bali's sun-sparkled shores but Mari Beach Club is offering something a little different. Without any lofty aspirations of becoming the biggest kid on the block, Mari's home within the world-class oasis is more humble and leans toward local culture as the inspiration behind its looks and feel. Always paired with really good music, of course.

Sitting pretty along Batu Belig Beach, Mari Beach Club breaks the mould with its commitment to Balinese hospitality, heritage and craftsmanship, using bamboo, wood, thatched roofs and open-air spaces to create a symbiosis between sustainable architecture and the natural environment that surrounds it.

Designed by Ibuku in collaboration with Syah Establishments, the space has been dubbed "Little Bali", and at first look, Bali's bohemian essence runs strong across the sprawling grounds. Upon arrival, a grand dome that nods to the mighty Mount Agung greets you before descending a staircase that symbolises ancient Balinese rice terraces and leads out to a turquoise-coloured pool area overlooking the sea just between Seminyak and Canggu.

The music programming promises to match its boho vibe, and you can expect DJs to soundtrack sunsets with anything from Afro house to ethnic-tinged techno. Experiences are expected to include food and wellness in the coming months, as the beach club gears up for a long-awaited opening that is set to be spread out over the next couple of months — and just in time because Indonesia has announced that it would be scrapping all quarantine for incoming international travellers.

See you on the Island of the Gods!

Mari Beach House soft opens on Saturday, March 26 at 3pm. Enter via RSVP only by e-mail: [email protected]
