Anané invites listeners to 'Take A Ride' with her genre-bending EP

Nulu Music founder Anané dropped her 'Take A Ride' EP on January 12 via Nervous Records.

The EP is a wild ride through a myriad of dance-inducing genres all stitched together by Anané's dreamy vocals.

Produced by Two Soul Fusion (husband Louie Vega and Josh Milan), it features live strings from the Apple Hill String Quartet, conducted by Leroy Burgess.

In addition to having total styling and creative control of this release, she also makes her directorial debut in the video for the EP's single 'High', which captures the essence of NYC nightlife, reflecting Anané's deep connection to both the city's glamour and the African rhythms of Nulu Music.

Opening with punk disco anthems 'Let Me Be Your Fantasy' and 'High', Anané takes us back to the 80s New York City sound, blending chugging bass lines and tempestuous high hats, capturing the thrill and dynamism of movement.

Diving into jazz funk with the nine-minute 'Coffy Is The Color', Anané orchestrates a controlled riot of sound, building energy bar by bar. It's a luxurious experience for audiophiles, with Anané's voice as a steadfast constant.

The Italo disco single 'Tutto Previsto' is a sensual journey that aims to embody the lazy heat of the Mediterranean. Anané's simmering vocals, slow basslines, and sliding guitars create a hypnotic atmosphere that practically slinks out of the speakers.

Michael Gray's Dub Mix of 'Get On The Funk Train' brings the EP back to disco, paying homage to Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte. The EP closes with the experimental punk disco instrumental edit, 'Anané's Disco Punk Demo' — a flawless cut with Latin guitar and ethereal notes.

Within this refreshingly nostalgic release, Anané continues her bold and unique approach to music, driven by a higher purpose of inspiring and shaping the world around her. “Understanding this sense of power that I have within comes with great responsibility and understanding that my music will always be more than what I could ever imagine.”
