Amber H concocts a surefire formula for 4-to-the-floor hedonism

“Hi-hats, hypnotic melodies and chuggy basslines”, is how Amber H would self-describe her music style.

Born and raised in Karachi, Amber Hasan aka Amber H spent just under two decades in the United States before relocating to Singapore. Whilst she was in Washington DC, circa 2002, electronic music became integrated into her daily life, namely thanks to Deep Dish and their residency at Club Nation. Amber tells us, “On the weekends I travelled to NYC, just to catch the dynamic duo, Danny Tenaglia and Danny Howells at clubs like Vinyl. And that was the start of my love affair with vinyl and DJing.”

Amber acutely focuses on the techier side of house with a minimalistic approach, giving her sound an immense amount of consistency and smoothness. That consistency has landed her regular sets at Singapore’s top clubs (when they were open and thriving) including The Council’s Headquarters and Kilo Lounge. But as she was building her 16-year long career, Amber has graced underground clubs in Washington DC where she first started out, the highly notable Sullivan Room in New York and Baba Beach Club in Phuket.

A quick glance at her tracklist below will give you an indication of how sturdy and tough Amber’s sound is, and we couldn’t be more impatient to catch her next live set commanding one of Asia’s finer dance floors.

Tune in below to Mixmag Asia Radio 063 with Amber H from Singapore.
