AirAsia celebrates 22nd anniversary with an in-flight rave
On route to Bali via Kuala Lumpur
Festival season is in full swing here in Asia and AirAsia joined in with a rave up in the clouds to celebrate its 22nd anniversary along with Malaysian DJ duo, BATE.
The flight took to the airspace on December 6 from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Bali, Indonesia with many passengers believing it was a normal routine flight. The campaign was quite the stir on social media as TikTok and Instagram blasted it through the web, leaving many commenting on when the next party in the sky would be.
This was not AirAsia’s first party mile-high hoorah; last year for the 21st anniversary the same route took place with the sounds from BATE.
The passengers were all provided “party kits” that included eye masks, earplugs and LED glow sticks depending on whether they were interested in joining in the fun or not. They were also rewarded with special 22% anniversary discounts and even free flights for those who joined a quiz. From the posts on social media, it seemed like the party only lasted for 15 minutes during the last part of the three-hour flight.
While this was a surprise to most passengers on board, some passengers seemed like they were invited specifically to blast it on their social media accounts.
For those who could have been heading to Djakarta Warehouse Project that weekend, some could have been on this flight which was said to have had a ‘Tomorrowland vibe’ — even if only for 15 minutes.
