Circuits: Rafiki and & Mengzy (Behind The Green Door)

Circuits brings together two dynamic artists from across Asia for a multi-stop tour across some of our favourite venues in the region. With Circuits, we’re spotlighting artists who may not yet be household names but are already trailblazers in their local and regional scenes. These talents are shaping Asia’s underground music culture, and we’re here to amplify their voices and connect them with wider audiences. Rafiki—the Mumbai-based mastermind behind the ever-exciting Krunk—has been pivotal in India’s underground scene. With 2024 marking his biggest year to date, Rafiki landed an electric Boiler Room set, saw Krunk expand globally, and elevated his festivals to new heights. Named one to watch by Mixmag Global, Rafiki is poised to make 2025 his biggest year yet. Joining him is Mixmag Asia’s own Mengzy, a Hong Kong-based DJ, promoter, and musicologist with a PhD in her craft. As the co-founder of Feed The Dragon and a regular name on the lineups of top-tier events like Keep Hush, Rinse, and Wonderfruit, Mengzy has become synonymous with quality bass, breaks, UKG, and techno across Southeast Asia. Behind The Green Door in Singapore has quickly become a staple in the city’s music scene since opening last year, with recent appearances by heavyweights like Ahadadream, Jimi Jules, Known Artist, Amine K, and Rui Tang. The venue boasts a killer sound system, an electric atmosphere, and a deeply rooted sense of community, making it the perfect Circuits spot.
