'Xylonmancy' comes as Xylon's bold debut EP on Hekdb

Xylon (fka Busyboi) releases new EP ‘Xylonmancy’, complete with a remix from Paperkraft, out today on Japanese label Hekdb.

With this new release, Xylon shifts gears, moving towards a sound that embraces minimal grooves, tribal rhythms, and dancefloor-centric vibes—an evolution that warrants the name change.

As expected from Hekdb, the release doesn’t disappoint.

The EP kicks off with the bold and brooding ‘Incantation’, which gradually unfolds, layering in hypnotic textures that establish a strikingly atmospheric opener. There’s an undeniable attitude in the track, setting the tone for what’s to come.

The pace doesn’t let up. ‘Temperance’ follows with intricate grooves and subtle sonic details that weave together into a moody, atmospheric electro banger. The way these elements intertwine feels natural yet captivating, making it a track that commands full attention from start to finish.

‘Blossom Drop’ rounds out the trio of originals with a softer, more ethereal tone. This track is drenched in a euphoric, almost dreamlike quality, with soaring synths that swirl around one another in a blissful, calming interplay. It offers a brief yet welcome contrast to the more driving energy of the previous cuts.

The EP also includes a remix of ‘Temperance’ by Osaka-based Paperkraft, who puts their own spin on the track. Maintaining a minimalist approach, Paperkraft injects elements of acid and a faster tempo, giving the remix a distinctly different energy while still keeping the core vibe intact. It’s a thrilling reinterpretation that adds a sense of urgency to the original’s already urgent vibe.

Hekdb continues to be one of the most exciting labels on the scene, and Xylon is yet another testament to its consistently impressive catalogue.

Keep a look out for ‘Xylonmancy’ as it drops today here.
